Digital company brochures

A company brochure that opens on any screen.

You send us the facts about your company: what it does, who does it, how the work runs. We set them out as a designed document and hand it back as a PDF made for reading on a screen, with a contents list and links that can be clicked straight through.

Nothing is printed and nothing is posted. Every item in an order is a file, sent by email or as a download link, and the editable source travels with it on the packages that include it.

In the document

  • 01 The company
  • 02 Capabilities
  • 03 Services
  • 04 The team
  • 05 How the work runs

The contents

Six sections, and what each one asks of you

A company profile is not a long document, but it is a particular one: every section answers a question a reader is already holding. The list below is the shape to work from. Leave a section out where it does not apply to you - an empty one is worse than none at all.

Section What it carries What we need from you
The company Who the business is, where it works and what it sets out to do. It takes the opening spread, and it is the shortest section in the document. A paragraph in your own words, your registered details and your logo.
Capabilities What the company can take on: disciplines, sectors, the kinds of work it is equipped for. A list, however rough. We group it and set the order.
Services Each service named, described in a line or two, with the detail that separates it from the one beside it. The names you use for them, and a sentence each.
The team The people a reader will deal with: name, role, and as much or as little else as you want printed. Names, roles and portraits you hold the rights to. It is fine to leave this section out.
How the work runs The stages of an engagement, from first contact to handover, so a reader knows what working with you looks like. Your stages in order. We set them as a sequence.
Contact How to reach you, where you are, and your registered particulars if the document needs them. The addresses you want printed, and any disclosure your industry requires.

Everything in the third column is material you already hold. We do not write claims about your company for you, and we do not put a figure, a date or a credential into a document unless you have supplied it.

Spreads

How the pages are put together

Three spreads from a document of the middle shape, shown as layout rather than as copy: where the headings sit, how much room the text has, where a picture can go and how a table behaves when it has to be read on a phone.

Who we are

What we are known for

02

03

The company, and what it is known for The opening spread does the introducing. A short standfirst on the left, room for one picture on the right, and nothing competing with either.

Services in detail

07

Capabilities and services The order is the order of the contents list: what the company is equipped for, then what it sells. Capabilities go in a table, because they are read down a column; services go in a grid, because they are compared with each other, and each tile takes a name, a line of description and the one detail that separates it from the tile beside it.

Contact

11

The people, how the work runs, and how to reach you The closing spread carries the working arrangements. Steps down the left, the people and the contact details on the right, where a reader looks for them last.

Your document carries your own material in these places, and the grid is set to your typefaces and colours where you have them. The sequence of sections is agreed with you before any of it is designed.

The file

What you actually receive

One document, made to be sent and read, not to be printed. Nothing in an order is posted, and there is no print or postage charge, because there is nothing physical in it.

  • 01

A PDF made for a screen

Set at a page size that reads on a laptop without zooming, with type sized for a screen and images at a weight that will go through an email system rather than bounce off it.

  • 02

A contents list you can click

Every entry jumps to its section, and the PDF carries its own bookmarks panel as well, so a reader who opens it in a browser and a reader who opens it in a reader both get the same navigation.

  • 03

Links that open where they say

Your website, your email address and anything else worth reaching from the page are live links. Each one is checked against the address it displays before handover.

  • 04

    The editable source

Where your order includes it, the working file travels with the PDF in the format agreed in the quotation, so the document can be updated later without starting again.

How it runs

From first email to finished file

Five stages. The written quotation is where the extent, the figure, the date and the number of revision rounds are settled, and the order confirmation is the moment the contract is made.

  1. Stage 01

    You write, we quote

    You

Tell us what the document is for, roughly what it has to carry, and when you need it.

    We

We come back with a written quotation: the extent, one figure in pounds sterling with any tax due already inside it, the date, and how many rounds of revision are included.

  2. Stage 02

    You accept, we confirm

    You

Tell us in writing that the quotation is right.

    We

We send an order confirmation. That is the point the contract is made, and its terms are the ones in force on that day.

  3. Stage 03

    Material and structure

    You

Send the text, the pictures you hold the rights to, your logo and any brand guidance.

    We

We agree the contents list with you and set out which section carries what, before anything is designed.

  4. Stage 04

    Design and revision

    You

Read the draft and send your comments together, in one go.

    We

We design the document, then work through your comments in the rounds the order includes.

  5. Stage 05

    Handover

    You

Tell us the address the files should go to.

    We

We send the finished PDF, any agreed exports, and the editable source where the order includes it, by email or as a download link.

Packages

Three shapes, sized to what you have to say

Packages are told apart by the extent of the document and by what it carries. The figure, the extent in pages, the date and the rounds of revision are written into the quotation for your order, in pounds sterling, with any tax due already inside the figure and nothing added to it afterwards.

Short profile

Short enough to read in one sitting.

An introduction to attach to an email, or the document a buyer asks for before a first meeting.

  • Cover and a single opening statement
  • What the company does, and what it is equipped for
  • One contact page with your registered particulars

The extent moves with how much there is to say and how many pictures earn their place. Both are settled before design starts.

Company brochure

Several times the length of a profile, with a contents list to find your way by.

The document that carries the whole company: sent to prospective customers and published on your own site.

  • Cover, contents and an opening spread
  • Capabilities and services, each set out to be compared
  • The team, and how an engagement runs
  • Contact and disclosures

The extent moves with the number of services described, whether the team is included, and how much of the material arrives ready to use.

Sectioned document

Longer again, and divided into parts that can be sent on their own.

A capability statement for a tender, a group with several divisions, or a company that needs the same document in more than one version.

  • Part openers, running heads and a full contents list
  • Sections that can be sent on their own
  • Tables and comparison pages where the material calls for them
  • A version for each audience where the order asks for one

The extent moves with the number of parts, the number of versions, and how much of the material has to be reworked before it can be laid out.

What each package covers

The packages page also lists the material to have ready before you write.

Questions

Worth settling before you write

Do you write the text?

We edit what you send: cutting, ordering, giving sections headings and making the wording consistent from page to page. We do not invent facts about your company, and nothing goes into the document that you have not confirmed. Where a section has no material behind it, we say so rather than fill it.

What if we have no brand guidelines?

Then the document sets its own: typefaces, a colour or two and a grid, chosen with you at the structure stage and used consistently throughout. If guidelines appear later, the working file is where the change is made.

Can the same document be sent as separate sections?

Yes, where the order provides for it. A sectioned document is built so a part can be exported on its own with its own opening page, which is the usual reason for choosing that shape.

Is anything printed or posted?

No. Every item in an order is a file, sent by email or as a download link. We do not arrange printing, and there is no postage or delivery charge, because there is nothing physical to deliver.

Tell us what the document has to do

A line about the company, the audience and roughly what it has to carry is enough to quote from. The written quotation comes back with the extent, the figure, the date and the rounds of revision included.

Or write to communications@shinepages.tech and describe the document you have in mind. The form on the contact page writes the same email for you and opens it in your own email application, ready for you to read over and send.
